Say hello to Hip Pop Kombucha

Vegan, lower in sugar, and made with no artificial sweeteners. Plus, it contains bacillus coagulans, a bacteria that's had huge amounts of study around gut health. In other words, it's the trifecta of tasty and health-focused. We want our drinks to taste good and do good!

    IS IT ALCOHOLIC?

Our kombucha does contain a small amount of alcohol (less than 0.5% by volume), but it's not enough to get you drunk. It's a great option if you're looking to cut back on alcohol or if you're in a situation where you can't or don't want to drink alcohol (like if you're driving a spaceship or something).

CONTAINS LIVE CULTURES FOR GUT HEALTH

HIP POP is one of the only kombucha brands in the world that harnesses a bacteria called Bacillus Coagulans which has been scientifically proven to support a healthy gut. You get these live, active cultures added to every can PLUS all the yet unknown benefits of fermented kombucha with all its other wonderful properties.

  • Women mixing a kombucha brew inside a tank

    DOES IT CONTAIN SUGAR?

Our drinks are lower in sugar than most other traditional pops, but they do contain some sugar [100% natural high grade cane sugar - yum!], fruits and our tea mix. We prefer this to artificial sweeteners like stevia and erythritol that you’d find in zero-sugar drinks. Our drink with the lowest sugar content would be the Living Soda’s which are only brewed with fruits, ACV and fibre - no tea.

Hip Pop Kombucha FAQs

There aren't yet any scientific studies that prove why kombucha is good for you so we don't know whether it's the natural vitamins, antioxidants, organic acids or the living cultures that cause people to come back for more.

Sugar is essential for the fermentation process in our starter - no sugar = no cultures. Everything needs glucose to live, that’s science! The living cultures in our starter metabolise the sugar into acetic acid [vinegar] and other essential compounds which give it its signature tangy taste. Only a slight residual amount of sugar remains in the starter after this process, the rest in the final product comes from when we mix the starter with our scrumptious tea mix and fruit juice.

Yes, as we know that kombucha contains lots of goodness to support gut health and well-being such as, natural vitamins, antioxidants, organic acids, and living cultures. However, we aren't exactly sure why kombucha is good for you (as there hasn't yet been enough scientific research into the benefits of kombucha).

Yes, the caffeine is metabolised during the fermentation process so it contains around 1/3 of the caffeine content in a cup of tea. It’s certainly not a lot and definitely wont keep you up at night!

Kombucha is slightly sour, a little bit tart and can be a little bit sweet. It really depends on two things: who is brewing the kombucha, and what flavours they are adding to it. Kombucha can taste very different depending on the flavours that are added to it and even the tea it’s brewed with. Some can be more light and  floral while others can be hard and sour - there are literally limitless possibilities!

Unfortunately no. It’s a bit like beer, wine or coffee: you get the mass-made stuff and then you get carefully craft-brewed booch. Our HIP POP is brewed, blended and canned all in our very own warehouse in Manchester by our carefully selected team members.

Yes, our kombucha is 100% gluten-free and dairy-free. It is made of 4 premium ingredients: loose-leaf green & black tea, cane sugar, our own in-house kombucha culture and subtly flavoured with fruits and herbs.

If you are wondering if kombucha is alcoholic - yes, it is. Like all fermented drinks and food, our kombucha contains trace alcohol. Ethanol is a natural byproduct of the fermentation process. But it’s so tiny that it’s classed as non-alcoholic (below 0.5%).

Yes, although kombucha has a low alcohol content, it is considered Halal suitable because its production is a by-product of a natural fermentation process. In fact, most fermented food and drinks are halal so long as they don’t contain over 1.2% ABV - at which point they are considered alcoholic.

Yes, all of our non-CBD drinks (Classic Kombucha, Living soda, Gut Lovin' Soda) are safe to drink when pregnant, but it's always a good idea to check with a doctor first, especially if you have any medical conditions.
