The remarkable health benefits of pumpkins

Rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and C, and minerals like magnesium and potassium, pumpkin can support healthy skin, strengthen your immune system, promote relaxation, and even benefit heart health. So whenever you indulge in pumpkin this season, you’re not just enjoying a festive flavour, you’re also nourishing your body and mind.”

The five ways to get the most of your pumpkins this autumn

  1. Pumpkin seeds are the ultimate snack

“I personally love these as a topping addition to homemade granola, but they also make the perfect afternoon or on-the-go snack. Simply place the seeds on a baking tray to roast with some olive oil in the oven, and you have yourself a highly nutritious snack.”

  1. Pumpkin soup

“As we gradually transition towards the darker evenings, hearty soups become a staple. There are plenty of amazing recipes online, but they can be made as simply as with just five ingredients - pumpkin, onion, garlic, stock and cream.”

  1. Try roasting a pumpkin

“What if I told you roasted pumpkin may even taste better than roast potatoes? Simply chop them into bite-sized pieces and toss with oil, salt, garlic and maybe some chilli powder for a kick and roast. The perfect autumn side dish that requires little fuss.”

  1. Bake pumpkin bread

“Now everyone loves banana bread, but this time of the year, why not switch it up and try pumpkin bread instead. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself in the kitchen or have a sweet afternoon activity with young ones, there are plenty of simple recipes available online.”

  1. Dip into some pumpkin hummus

“Perfect for that seasonal party, pumpkin hummus is packed with health benefits and provides a great addition to nutritious snacks such as carrots or peppers. As a party feature, consider serving the hummus out of a baby pumpkin.”
